Level & Reference Frames

I'm compressing WTV files to MKV for XBMC.

I'm trying to get my files to the same quality/settings I see from scene release samples.

With that in mind, I've already got my bitrate and frame rate set correctly, removed the 3 / 5 second intro cutoff, but I still need to fix my Level and Reference Frames to match below:

AVC (High@L4.1) CABAC / 8 Ref Frames

What adjustments would I make to the profile below, to get the desired results?

[MKV High Quality]
Description=High profile, high quality 2 pass MKV (H.264/AC3). Primarily for HD videos, takes the most time and produces the best results.

Do I need to make any changes to the MCEBuddy.conf file?

Also, are there any reasons not to use 4.1 or 8 Reference Frames?

Thanks!

Some devices (like Roku) don't like 4.1 level, at 1920 or 1080p you don't technically need 4.1, 4.0 suffices.
Same with ref frames, some devices just don't like it
