--MCEBuddy not starting on PC *Solved*

Dec 12, 2014 at 10:30 PM
Hi, I've been using MCEBuddy for awhile on my core 2 due desktop and it has been working great. However I just purchased a new core i5 laptop and I would like to try MCE buddy on this machine to see if its much faster then the slow desktop machine. I've installed version 2.3.15 and all other software that's needed to run the program. I launch the software and try to add a tv show to convert by either dragging and dropping the file to the white box area, or I click the add button to navigate to where the file is located. For some reason the files never appear in the conversion list so they never start processing. I've uninstalled the program a few times and I've also gone back to 2.3.14 with the same results. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

don't copy paste, attach a link to your log file we need to look at the entire file to see what's going on. If you're using a network path to drag and drop you need ensure that credentials are added in the System Settings page of MCEBuddy. (expert settings in 2.3.15). Is your network path working as a guest or does it have authentication?

Thanks for the reply. This was on a fresh install, for some reason the profiles were still using network creds for some reason. Yes the creds were correct and it works just fine from my desktop pc. Here's a dropbox link to the full log file.

Here is your answer: your recordings are copy protected, they have DRM protection which prevents any conversion or modification. You need to contact your cable provider and tell them to remove the copy once / copy protection flag if this channel is a free to air (FTA/OTA) channel. For cable channels it may be harder to convince them. the FCC ruling requires cable provider to go digital but not encrypt the FTA/OTA channels.

I'm sorry but your missing my point. For example, I copied this past weeks recording of the flash from my htpc to both my laptop and my desktop. The file processes on the desktop machine but fails to start on the laptop. I may have tried to convert something from starz in the past, but this file is 't protected. Does anyone else have any advice?

give me the filename to trace it in the log file you attached.

Sure, the file name is The Flash_WUCWDT_2014_12_09_18_59_00.wtv

Thank you

Here's your answer (just go through the logs)
2014-12-12T19:53:56 MCEBuddy.Engine.QueueManager --> Checking Metadata for File -> C:\Users\Shawn\Desktop\The Flash_WUCWDT_2014_12_09_18_59_00.wtv, Conversion Task ->Convert to MP4
2014-12-12T19:53:56 MCEBuddy.Engine.QueueManager --> File >The Flash_WUCWDT_2014_12_09_18_59_00.wtv<, checking filename filter >Videos\%showname%\Season %season%\%showname% - S%season%##E%episode%## - %episodename% - %airyear%_%airmonth%_%airday%<
2014-12-12T19:53:56 MCEBuddy.Engine.QueueManager --> File The Flash_WUCWDT_2014_12_09_18_59_00.wtv did not match Filename meta data pattern
You've set the filename filter to:
File Selection Pattern -> Videos\%showname%\Season %season%\%showname% - S%season%##E%episode%## - %episodename% - %airyear%_%airmonth%_%airday%
I think it's in the wrong place, you probably wanted to put it in the file rename pattern
