Recordings not picked up by monitor task

Dec 1, 2015 at 6:39 PM
recently some of my recordings that get processed by mcebuddy are not in the destination folder. I have uploaded the log for one of them. the show name is good day new york. thanks

It's moved it to the destination folder

> INFORMATION> 2015-12-01T10:05:38 MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob --> Moving converted file to destination
INFORMATION> 2015-12-01T10:05:38 MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob --> Moving converted file E:\mcebuddy temp\working0\Good Day New York-2015-12-01 1012.mpg to \\SYNOLOGY1\HDHomeRun\Good Day New York\Good Day New York-2015-12-01 1012.mpg

It's also verified that it moved as it reads the file size after moving it:
> 2015-12-01T10:07:21 MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob --> Finished end of conversion custom command, file size [KB] 8,249,950.00
INFORMATION> 2015-12-01T10:07:21 MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob --> Success - All done!

So it's something else that's messing with your file after MCEBuddy is done.

I think i figured it out. Good Day New York records twice in 1 day. Once from 7am to 9am and again from 9 am to 10 am. Mcebuddy is giving both recordings the same name and over writing the first one (I have uploaded the log for the second file). also mcebuddy is taking a very long time to find recordings on my nas (50 min) yet it works fine with my wmc local files. thanks

Look through the logs please, it just uses API's, if windows can't see your NAS files MCEbuddy can't see them.

windows explorer sees the files just fine. I did however notice the following line repeated every min or so in mcebuddy.log starting when the file finished recording and going until it started processing. Please note, the modified time keeps changing.

2015-12-02T09:01:47 MCEBuddy.Engine.QueueManager --> Monitor task hdhomerun dvr : File \SYNOLOGY1\HDHomeRun\Good Day New York\Good Day New York [20151202-1200].mpg was last modified at 12/02/2015 09:46:49. Waiting for atleast 0 minutes before processing.

That's why, it monitors the modified time to ensure that the recording is complete before starting, but if the delay is set to 0 minutes then it should pick it up immediately.
Can you post the settings from mcebuddy.log here to see what setting you have or upload it to the server.

If you look at the timestamps it tells the story:
On the local machine where MCEbuddy is running the time is 9:01 AM, the timestamp of the file is 9:46 AM, i.e. it's in the future compared to the local machine hence mcebuddy is ignoring it as it expects the timestamps to be the same or in the past. The difference is 45 minutes, hence it picks it up 50 minutes later (45 min + 5 in poll period).

Anyways, thanks for pointing it out, will put a patch in the code to ignore timestamps if the monitoring delay is set to 0

I just uploaded the log the file name is techpro2004-mcebuddy.log thanks
Dec 2, 2015 at 8:43 PM
something is odd here, the nas has the same time as my windows pc
Dec 2, 2015 at 8:48 PM
Check the timestamp on your file which shows up in the mcebuddy log and see what it says for last modified time. Given that it's 45 minutes I can't even say it's a timezone issue

unfortunately I have mcebuddy set to delete the original file. however I noticed that the news at 5 says it was modified at 5:50 pm. it is now 5:04 pm here.

since adjusting the clock on my nas mcebuddy has been processing too soon. thanks

:)) the combinations are endless. BEst is to sync your NAS with a NTP server.

that is exactly what i am doing. apparently the old ntp server was not working correctly so I switched it

mcebuddy processed the morning news 3 min after it started recording this morning
Dec 4, 2015 at 7:53 PM
Good to hear

Dec 4, 2015 at 8:42 PM
do you want me to upload my logs
Dec 4, 2015 at 9:02 PM
Why? It sounds like it's working fine.

Dec 4, 2015 at 9:39 PM
sorry I guess I am not being clear. this morning mcebuddy processed a recording 3 min after it started recording, while it was still recording. the end recording was 3 min long
Dec 4, 2015 at 9:53 PM
That's because that's what you've told MCEbuddy to do that. You've set the delay to 0 minutes, so it starts immediately. That's why the default is 1 minute so it'll wait for a minute after the last time it was modified and then start.

ok thanks. I must have gotten confused. Funny thing is i don't even remember setting it to 0. I changed it to 1 min. i have a recording scheduled at 5 and at 6 I will let you know how that goes
