It's not able to get your screen size. Windows is throwing an exception. Not sure haven't seen this before. Are using a Remote Desktop?

No remote desktop.

The only unusual thing about my display system is that my desktop is spread over three monitors. However, this is a normal windows feature, and has never affected any other application.

As a test, I disconnected two of monitors, collapsing the display to a single monitor. It still wouldn't start, and had the same event viewer error.

My screen resolution is 1920x1080.

Try starting it in compatibility mode

I tried all OS compatibility modes, plus Run as Administrator (or not), plus the various graphics and display options. No difference.

Installed it on my wife's Windows 10 box, and the GUI starts just fine. FYI, not likely a multi-monitor issue, 'cause she has two monitors.

I'm running it on her machine, and monitoring my video directory over the network. Seems to be working... I'm waiting for my first MP4 2-pass to complete.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to get the screen size? Your application window only appears to be about 435x445 – wouldn't this fit on any screen out there?

For handling window resizing and high DPI operations.
