Path to Long

Oct 22, 2016 at 5:25 PM
Getting the following error
ERROR : The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

Is there anyway to get around this other than shorten the path? I have been using this file structure with MCM, Mediaportal, Kodi, Plex and it hasn't been an issue. It will take a lot of effort to restructure, then go to all devices and applications and modify, then update (which will take hours).

Check it out, Windows API (Directory.EnumerateFiles) is throwing the error:

The specified path, file name, or combined exceed the system-defined maximum length. For example, on Windows-based platforms, paths must be less than 248 characters and file names must be less than 260 characters.

Can't do anything about it, you'll have to find a way to reduce the filename + path length. It's a windows limitation.

So for example
Z:\video\tv\TV SHOWS\24.(series.(2001)\24 - Season 1 This is the path
24.s01e01.1200.a.m.100.a.m.[720].[20011106].mp4 This is file name

Together they are to long?
