Protips for Windows 10, MCEBuddy, and Tivo Conversion failures

Nov 16, 2016 at 5:52 AM
Hi all,

I've been beating my head against the wall with remux errors, randomly corrupted files, etc. On a lark, I tried disabling the "use fastest possible method to transfer recordings" in Tivo Desktop. All of a sudden, all of my encodes are working fine!

What I think is happening is that the DirectShow filter that Tivo installs is not fully compatible with Win10. Disabling it falls back to the older video format, and voila, everything works.

Hope this helps! Will.

One more protip: it looks like the Tivo Desktop, even with slow transfer (which isn't really slow FWIW) still munges some files such that it will fail the current version of ComSkip. I've found the way around this is to manually download the TS file from the web experience.
To get to the Tivo Web Experience, go to https://TivoIpAddress

Hope this helps.
