Duplicate rename save file

I noticed that when processing multiple shows that do not have a series episode that the show will get renamed like "CBS News Sunday Morning - SE - ". If I have multiple episodes I am processing the next episode processed will overwrite the previous episode. Can you check for existing files before you save episode and rename/increment episode accordingly? ie... "CBS News Sunday Morning - SE02 - ", CBS News Sunday Morning - SE03 -" etc...

Or the date of the show..... "CBS News Sunday Morning - April 21 2013 - "

are you using Custom rename?

The default action of mcebuddy is to insert a date/time if no episode name or season information is available.

Post your conversion log.

I was using custom rename... %ismovie%<TV_Recorded_Movies\%showname%,%showname%\Season %season%\%showname% - S%season%##E%episode%##> - %episodename%
The logs for the CBS Sunday Morning News programs have been deleted.... I just this morning installed the new beta and cleared the logs. It was renaming the files "CBS News Sunday Morning - SE -" and saving/moving them from the working directory and overwriting the existing previously saved files. I have since changed/added a task to take that into account, manually looking for CBS Sunday Morning News and am now processing them separately. But any other files that might not get named with season and episode information would probably get overwritten the same say. I have noticed show ending up in "Season" folder and labeled "showname" - SE.mp4 (example Betty White's Off Their Rockers - SE.mp4). It's not finding a season or episode and it's not defaulting back to the date (not sure if you meant it was supposed to with custom rename.

If you still need a log to better understand what I am saying I'll redo/enable my old tasks and get a log for you.

I initially thought the task system ran in the order they were displayed, thus I was thinking I could set up a task structure of if, else, if, else, if, else...then but on examination I believe you run every task on every show more like ... check all file for this, then check all files for this, then this, then this.

  • _When MCEBuddy checks for files to process and I have a task that looks for CBS Sunday Morning News and I have a task that looks for ~CBS Sunday Morning News, MCEBuddy will create 2 processes for each file and will process each event in turn, I had originally thought that the process would not get created if the condition wasn't met).

That's what I thought. Custom rename is absolute and mcebuddy cannot override it.
If you are using the alternate MC compatible rename option if will add the date and time if season is missing.

Regarding you tasks post the exact filters you have entered in both your tasks or attach the mcebuddy.log file

Ok now I need help. Custom rename is absolute, if I pick that it does it to the best of it's ability and then writes it out no matter what. So I decided to create a task to identify a known show, and now every program gets filtered through two task. I chose delete file once processed but now it does not delete anything, I'm supposing that the multiple tasks for each show is preventing the deletion of the show after it's been processed. I sure wish there was a better way to prevent MCEBuddy from overwriting an existing saved file. I uploaded logs to ftp under Larry's Logs.

I need the mcebuddy.log file also - critical

Sometimes the simplest answer is staring me in the face and I don't see it.... I just hard coded adding the date of the recording to the rename function and that solved the problem. Sorry to have bothered you.

Assuming hte delete is also working fine

rboy1 wrote Apr 29, 2013 at 6:21 PM

Okay found the issue with the delete not working, special condition when there are multiple show filters setup the delete and archive won't work.

I'll fix it in the next BETA

Okay the Delete issue has been fixed (and as a bonus the performance of seraching for new files and matching wtih metadata has also been imrpvoed :)

You'll find this in the next BETA release
