MCE Buddy freezes

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling MCE buddy multiple times. I have also tried using different input files/directories. However MCE buddy keeps getting stuck in this step:

"getting show information and banner from internet sources"

And will use approximately 70% of the available processing power (I have a quad core i7-930). Attached is a log showing where it stops working. I have had this problem before, but normally uninstalling MCE Buddy and reinstalling it will work. This has not been the case this time.

log file (sorry for double post)

Well I tried "turning if off and on again" and it worked. No idea why the 4th time was magic. Still I have had this issue multiple times and it is always the same behavior. Working fine now though.

Weird never seen this. It uses Internet explorer to connect to the Internet and download some stuff. Maybe it's a plugin that is causing it to go crazy.the log file is empty unfortunately.

Let me know if it happens again

sometimes when the internet connection is flaky or intermittent it tends to get stuck here until it times out, can take upto 5 minutes, but never seen it take up CPU time.

Any update - are you still seeing this?

rboy1 wrote Oct 24, 2013 at 3:52 PM

assuming this is not happening anymore since I haven't heard back from you

If it happens again try this;
  1. Delete the history file (if it's very large it can lead to some "hang" time until it run through it)
  2. Do a clean install and that should clear things up (refer to documentation on how to do a clean install)
