I'm going to jump into this one for a minute with my thought when I saw the original post yesterday.

You said
have a usb drive full of movies, but to record from panasonic pvr player to usb drive , it has to be "recognised" , so it will only repay on a panasonic pvr, so i cant download to computer to run mcebubby.
You haven't told us:
  1. What version of Windows you are using.
  2. Model number of the Panasonic PVR
  3. Whether you have setup Windows Media or a network share with your Panasonic PVR.
Sharing what version of Windows you have will let the community know more about the issue and how to get Windows to recognize your Panasonic PVR

The Model number of the Panasonic PVR will let the community see if your PVR is wifi or has a lan network card and see how Panasonic PVR will let you connect to your computer.

However, Your best bet is to Setup a network share between your computer and the Panasonic PVR Player per Panasonic's and Windows directions then use MCEBUDDY to process your files via the network share you created between your computer and Panasonic (like \pansonicpvr ) instead of a drive letter like d:.
