Horrible performance on recent builds

Oct 29, 2012 at 6:42 PM

The last stable build on my system was 2.2 Build 18 64-bit.   I could take a 7gb WTV file and convert to MP4 in about 12 minutes. ( no removal of commercials)

With each recent build 2.3.x to 2.3.5 that same process has changed to about 2 1/2 hours (250 minutes), with the same exact file.

So yesterday I did some troubleshooting

Installed 2.3.6 Same issue
uninstalled 2.3.6 and then re-installed 2.3.5, same issue,
uninstalled 2.3.5 and then re-installed 2.3.3, same issue,
uninstalled and then re-installed 2.3.1, same issue,
uninstalled and then re-installed 2.2.18 works beautifully

Any Ideas as to the issue?

I'm using the MP4 FAST profile...  no removal of commercials, no changing of the name, just a simple ignore for 1 hour

Anyone else having these issues?

Open profiles.conf

Under MP4 Fast profile check the general parameters. The newer builds use --decomb to improve quality of conversion, however at an expense of time.

Remove --decomb if you're happy with the 2.2.18 quality of MP4 Fast

Let me know if that fixes the problem

Thank you Sir, that did the trick.   I've never used the decomb option in Handbrake before, but since I'm converting TV shows to my iPhone the quality isn't noticeable.   Thank you for the quick response.  I'm running on 2.3.6 now!!!
