DRM Issue after Conversion

Jan 19, 2013 at 2:12 PM

Hi,

Great product, thanks for all the hard work.  I did a scan of topics, haven't seen anyone else post this, just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue...

Here is my setup, MCE running on win 7 records live tv.  Batch process copy to Win 8 Server directory.  MCE Buddy 2 is running on Win 8 picks it up and converts/remove commercial using comskip.

The comskip wtv file plays fine on the win 7 machine but doesn't play on win 8 machine.  The original archive file plays on win 8 without an issue.

Thanks

Check your video playback filters. What are you converting to?

I think the problem is that some Live TV, like from my Ceton card, has DRM copy once flag on some channels through my provider.

You can't play it on other machines.  Only way is using a windows media center extender.

if the converted file is playing on your win7 machine, then likely it's a filters issue since mcebuddy doesn't use DRM.

I've tried converting to both WTV format.  Purpose is I want it to appear in the Recorded TV section of MCE.

Alright I guess I left out a few things... Cable provider is Verizon Fios, so there shouldn't be any copy flag that exists.  Its a window 8 standard install, I've installed MCE Buddy 2, MPC-HC and LAV Filters.    If it was filters or DRM, I would assume the original file wouldn't play at all on win 8.  I also have issue playing the comskip file on my Mac using VLC.

I guess I will do some more poking around or just give up converting to WTV format(s).
