Clarification of "Detect and Optimize Video Quality" and other advanced encoding options

Feb 18, 2014 at 5:06 PM
I am trying to gain a better understanding of how the various Advanced Settings options in the GUI interact with the options specified in the encoding profiles.

For example, I prefer Handbrake encodes and like to use custom profile settings to force constant quality, constant framerate, decomb, no NR, DPL2 mixdown for audio, etc. I'm not really sure, though, what happens when I select various related options in the GUI.

Can you comment on when and how MCEBuddy overrides the options specified in the profile? Is it sufficient to just use the GUI to get the results I want (as opposed to hand-tweaking the profiles)?

Thank you!

You can customize the profiles and set options on them to ignore GUI settings. For example if you set skipcropping=true in the profile it will ignore the GUI option and skip cropping. Similarly you can set fixedresolution=true and so on and so forth.

Refer to the documentation under advanced commands to get more details on what options exist for profile customization.
