Newbie question - audio only files - ComSkip

Jun 18, 2014 at 4:03 AM
I'm new to MCEBuddy and have been hoping to auto-detect and remove commercials from audio only files. The native file is FLV but could easily be converted to WAV or MP3.

While MCEBuddy converts the file without issue, no commercial detection/removal occurs.

Since these files were captured from an internet radio stream, I realize that there isn't a ready made database of program data from which to obtain certain identifying metrics.

Is this pursuit possible? If so, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

have you gone through the comskip tuning guide and detection options?

Yes, but without much success. There was an earlier post regarding audio only files with a suggestion to use the following settings:

detect_method=64
validate_silence=0
max_volume=0

In another post, someone suggested that MCEBuddy couldn't detect commercials in audio only files as it contains none of the markers normally found in broadcast video.

Has anyone had a successful experience using MCEBuddy to detect and remove commercials from audio only files?

Thanks
