PlayLater and file renaming/Show Information Download

Nov 12, 2014 at 1:33 PM
I am having issues with the renaming of PlayLater recordings. MB does not seem to recognize the naming convention that PlayLater uses:

Manhattan - s01e05 - A New Approach to Nuclear Cosmology.mp4

I tried removing the spaces in the file name and
I have tried the following custom file renaming:

%showname%\%showname%-s%season%##e%episode%##.%episodename%

Am I missing something? I have the log files available, but have been unable to upload for some reason.

Thank you!

Check the XBMC compatible naming option in the Conversion Task settings, those will work with MB. With the latest version of 2.4.1 (fresh installs) it is enabled by default.

First, thank you fir the quick reply!

I just finished upgrading from 2.3.15 to 2.4, I completely missed the update. I uninstalled the previous version and updated. However, I do not see a visible option referring to xbmc naming convention; unless you are referring to "Save Metadata" under Expert Settings-->Metadata Management? If so, it is checked.
the file is still being renamed to:
s01e05 - A New Approach to Nuclear Cosmology\s01e05 - A New Approach to Nuclear Cosmology.mp4
this the same result as the earlier version, with a new problem introduced; the encodes are failing, file size in 1kb. I have eliminated using a network share to transfer to, MB log showed a 1219 error logging into it. The profile is MP4 unprocessed. The settings (conf files) being used are essentially unchanged from previous version, should i delete EVERYTHING and start over?

Logs uploaded to UPLOAD folder as "PlayLater and file renamingShow Information Download.zip"

-Mitch

EDIT: I just had a successful completion, to the network share, with a conversion using the MP4 Fast profile

Sorry I meant "Use MC Compatible Naming", it's in the same section as the Renaming options under Advanced Settings (not Expert) of the conversion task
Nov 14, 2014 at 11:24 AM
Because I was having issues with "MP4 unprocessed", I completely removed MB and deleted all profiles and reinstalled MB 2.4.1. I was hoping it would also help with my file renaming issue. It has not. Under "Renaming and Sorting", I have four options.
 (X) Rename and sort by video information
 () Rename without converting
 () Enable custom file renaming
 (X) Organize by seasons
I must be dense, I am still not seeing "Use MC Compatible Naming". However, it is my belief that the problems lies with MB not parsing the information correctly... this is from the logfile:
 2014-11-13T22:41:19 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.Base -->     Sourceid        : http://m.hulu.com/menu/513238?video_id=666080

 2014-11-13T22:41:19 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.Base -->     title           : s01e01 - Manhattan
the show is correct, the title is not.
NOTE: "MP4 unprocessed" is still not working for me, it produces a file 1kb in size.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry it was recently renamed to a more friendly "Organize by seasons". If you hover over it it'll say that it organizes to be compatible with XMBC and MB.

That will create a folder and file name structure that works with xmbc and media browser.
Nov 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM
Yep, I saw that. When I check that box it organizes the file:
 ...\s01e05 - A New Approach to Nuclear Cosmology\Season 01\s01e05 - A New Approach to Nuclear Cosmology.mp4
MCEBuddy is not correctly identifying the title of the show.

Your original MP4 file has that metadata which MCEBuddy is taking, it doesn't modify the Title, takes what's given to it. If it's incorrect you can write a REGEX in the Metadata correction section (in expert settings) to remove the extraneous information "s01e01 - ". Unfortunately I'm no Regex expert maybe someone can help you out with the regex

Hello, I am having a the same issue. Unfortunately, Playlater tags the Title as "S01E01 - Episode desc" and in turn MCEBuddy uses this tag. Maybe MCEBuddy can have option to overwrite the existing metatag using the Filename during Meta correction.

@fhm0514 - Can you verify what the TVSH (showname) tag is set to for your video. Looking into another matter we found that PlayLater sets the Title to the filename but the Showname metadata is identified correctly. If you can confirm that we may have a permanent fix for you.

Use the latest build it should solve your issue with PlayLater. There an issue with the metadata format of PlayLater which has not been fixed. You shouldn't have to correct any metadata now.

The 11-17 build has fixed the file renaming issue. Thank you! With that being said, and really not terribly important to me, but metadata information download does not work with playlater recorded files.

Is there any documentation on using RegEx to fix this, or just an example?

Thanks again for the quick fix.

It's working fine, your original file is missing the metadata to being with:

It's also missing the original broadcast date so MCEbuddy can't match it to anything on the internet. (it needs 2 pieces of information to match)

So, if I understand correctly, using RegEx to correct the title will not help because MCEBuddy will not find show data without a valid record/air date, even though show, Season # and Episode # are correctly identified?

I am still unable to find anything on RegEx in MB,

Is there any detailed documentation on using RegEx, or just an example?

Regex isn't related to media browser. It's "Regular Expressions". Google it to get more details.

And yes, until the subtitle information is present MCEBuddy can't do much. We're working to see if it's possible to scrape the subtitle/episode name with the season/episode numbers but it'll take time.

I was referring to specific examples or documentation for use within MCEBuddy, what is media browser?
Google produces only a handful of results when paired with MCEBuddy, with one actually providing theoretical examples. https://mcebuddy2x.codeplex.com/workitem/1793

Perfect, thanks for the update.
