Losing Closed Captions while extracting them with "WTV Unprocessed" profile.

Feb 16, 2015 at 8:06 PM
Hi.

Here my configuration/products installed:
Windows 8.1 64 bit OS
the latest beta (2.4 Beta 2), 64 bit
"ffdshow" from the "extras" folder
Paid copy of comskip (last version installed)
Upgrade the ccextrator package to the 0.75 version (latest) into your folder in "C:\program files\MCEBuddy2x"
When I use the profile "WTV Unprocessed", with the option to extract the closed caption, the file (*.SRT) is garbled. (French accent not present and a lots of errors in the text)

I also tried with and without Comskip enabled.

I tried the following tests:
1

If I call directly this program "ccextractorwin.exe" to extract the close caption from the .WTV, it worked pretty well. No error, nor typos.

If I tried it from the extracted .TS from your "WTV Unprocessed" profile, the .SRT is garbled. (During the process, I made a copy of the extracted .TS file and tried to extract the closed caption from it)

Is there some change to do in the "WTV Unprocessed" profile, because the extraction phase of the TS seems to corrupt the close captioning embedded in the file.

Or maybe another version of FFDSHOW is required?!

My main goal is to extract the CC. Then, remove the commercials. :-)

Thank you very much,

Joël.

Try 2 things:
1. Check the skip remuxing option in expert settings
2. Alternatively open profiles.conf. In the unprocessed profile remove the -ss 5 from the ffmpeg-general line

Let me know how it goes

Hi.

No -ss 5 in the profile

[WTV Unprocessed]
Description=Very fast but limited functionality. Creates WTV files by directly copying the video and audio tracks. Useful for taking out commercials keeping original video and audio quality without processing (resize, deinterlace, select audio language etc). Use this if you have high quality HD recordings which don't need processing.
order=copy,ffmpeg
copy-remuxto=.wtv
copy-audiodelay=skip
ffmpeg-general=-threads 0
ffmpeg-video=-vcodec copy -map 0:v -sn
ffmpeg-audio=-acodec copy -map 0:a
ffmpeg-audioac3=-acodec copy -map 0:a
ffmpeg-ext=.wtv
ffmpeg-audiodelay=skip
FixedResolution=true
SkipCropping=true
PreConversionCommercialRemover=true

AutoDeinterlace=false

You talk about the option in red? Ok, I checked it.

Observations:

During the "Comskip" phase, I check the working folder and the entire *.wtv was copied there.
OPen then *.SRT in the working folder during the removal of the ads. The SRT was okay!

(By the way, the name of the serie was "Unité 9", but MCEBuddy create the folder "Unité 9" in the "output" location. This is also true with the name of the renamed file in the output folder, ie "Unité 9-S03E14-Episode 63")

Yes!!! The closed captions is okay!!!

Only minor thing is the name of the serie now. :-)

By the way, I did not put anything in bold. It's just weird. :-)

Yes you to need to the quote or code options while posting.

Sorry I meant in the ffmpegbackupremux section for the -ss 5

Feb 16, 2015 at 9:32 PM
Just to check the option seems to do the trick.
Should I also remove the -ss 5 just in case?!

No they are different. Please try removing the ss and uncheck it. Let me know it works. I'll explain thereafter what is going on

How about with the stock ccextractor that comes with mcebuddy? Does that also come out garbled?

If not I will need to analyze this with a sample wtv video from you.

Feb 17, 2015 at 1:52 AM
Yes, it does the same.

Can you cut 200MB of the WTV file using the file splitter on the mcebuddy server and upload the FIRST chunk to the server for us to analyze. There area few things I want to try

Feb 17, 2015 at 1:57 AM
Is there a way to perform a clean install? (Get ride of previous parameters) I uninstall it (C:\Program Files was clean, no MCEBuddy2x folder), but after an re-install, some config that I set was back.
