Renaming not working for me

Feb 27, 2015 at 9:38 PM
I'm trying to move and rename some video files. No converting needed. My issue is that it's only moving the video files. It's not renaming or organizing the files like it should be.

I have checked: Rename and sort by video information, Rename without converting, Organize by seasons

Here are the logs:

This is just a sample for this particular show. The same problem exists on all shows. I've never been able to do this.

That's because your original mp4 file has no metadata available to use.

So, no metadata = no renaming. Bummer.

Is there any way for the program to rename based on an existing file name? I mean everything is there in the existing file name for the program to lookup the needed data in order to rename the file. Don't know if that's possible. It's just a thought.

Thanks

Not yet unfortunately. Something we are still experimenting with is recognizing file names but that is very complex since there is no standard.

OK. No problem.

For others that have an interest in this, I found via Google a free program called theRenamer. It takes a bit of thought to get your settings just as you want it, but it works wonders for renaming and organizing your video files. Until MCEBuddy bakes this into their program, it's a pretty solid alternative to clean up those messy directories.
