MCEBuddy and ATI video cars

Dec 10, 2015 at 3:53 PM
I have Intel i7 4770k OC to 4.5Ghz with ATI HD7870 video card. MCEBuddy seems to be really slow. even slower than Handbrake alone. I haven't done any timed tests, but most conversions seem to be 1x, maybe 1.5x. These are HDHR Prime 1080i mpg files to 720p MP4.

Are there any settings to utlilize the ATI GPU?

Check what profile you're using, a High Quality profile will be very slow so it depends upon the settings. It's incorrect to say it's even slower than handbrake, because it uses handbrake the difference lies in what settings you're using to convert it.

I know it uses Handbrake. That's why I pointed it out. I have no idea what the presets are for MCEBuddy. I just use the MP4 Normal, no commercial removal.

When I use Handbrake:
Source: 1280x720
Anamorphic: None (sometimes have to set custom cropping to zero)

Video Tab:
H264, framerate usually same as source except for 59.94 I change to 29.97
Constant framerate (works better with my sister's TV)
Fast decode checked
Quality: Avg Bitrate 4000 kbps

Audio: 192kbps, Dolby Surround

Using GPUZ, neither app will use my GPU.
